Council and Broxie tabbed CDS preseason HBCU All-Americans

Nashville, Tenn. - The Consensus Draft Services (CDS) have selected Tennessee State University defensive players Rico Council and Marcus Broxie to the 2010 Preseason HBCU All-America Team.

They join teammate Eugene Clifford who received a selection to both the CDS FCS second team and CDS HBCU first team.

Council, a junior and native of Chattanooga, Tenn. was selected to the CDS preseason first team for a consecutive year after finishing 2009 on the CDS FCS second team and CDS HBCU first team. He finished second on the team with 63 tackles (31 solo) adding one sack. He led TSU in tackles after his freshman year (2008) with 67 tackles and was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer team.

Broxie makes his first appearance on the CDS HBCU preseason team after being selected to the organization's 2009 HBCU All-America squad. He makes the team despite only appearing in two games before missing the majority of last year due to an injury. In 2008, he finished as the Tigers' sack leader with six to compliment 36 tackles in his first year. The transfer from West Virginia and Tampa, Fla. native was selected to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer squad at the end of the year.

The Tigers begin the 2010 season when they host Alabama A&M in the 12th Annual John Merritt Classic on September 4th at LP Field.
