Tennessee State University athletics will hold its twelfth annual Senior Kick-Off Luncheon on Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Loew's Vanderbilt Hotel. The luncheon, which honors the senior Tigers' football players will begin at 11:00 a.m. Eight Tiger seniors, headed by All-OVC defensive back, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who has been tabbed a preseason first team All-American on two national NCAA FCS polls (College Sporting News & The Sports Network) will be honored. The other players honored by the TSU coaching staff and athletic department will be Shaun Richardson (DE), Brandon Williams (RB), Mark Drew, Jr. (LB), Eugene Banks (OL), Qudus Adeboyejo (OL), Tavares Edwards (WR) and Lamar Divens (DT). The Tennessee State Tiger football program won back-to-back OVC football championships in 1998 and 1999 and has been named Black College Football National Champions eleven times. These seniors helped TSU finish 5-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2006 and will enter their final season for the Big Blue, with the campaign slogan of "Back on the Prowl", looking for new titles on the conference, regional and national level. The Tigers open their season on Saturday, September 1, 2007 against defending Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champion Alabama A&M University in the ninth annual John Merritt Classic.
