Gains 197 yards in Total Offense against Samford in TSU Homecoming game. Tennessee State University sophomore running back Javarris Williams has earned Ohio Valley Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, for his performance against Samford University in the TSU homecoming game on September 28, 2006. Williams, a 5-11, 212 lb product of Foster high school in Richmond, Texas, rushed for 162 yards on 35 carries and caught three passes for another 35 yards for 197 yards of total offense in the Tigers' 29-7 win over Samford. This marked the sixth 100-yard rushing game this season for Williams. The sophomore running back also passed the 1,000-yard mark for the season with 1,045. Williams moved into fourth place for career rushers at TSU. Javarris, the 2005 OVC Freshman of the Year, currently leads the Ohio Valley Conference in rushing (130.6 ypg) and is ranked 6th nationally among NCAA I-AA rushers. He also leads the conference in All-Purpose Yards (154.7ypg) and ranks 7th nationally. He has scored ten (10) touchdowns so far this season (9 rush, 1 pass) for a 7.5 ppg average. Tennessee State is a perfect 4-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference and tied for first place.
