TIGERS, TECH RENEW SERIES
NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- After a year's absence, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech will renew their football series with a special Thursday (Oct. 13) game in Tech's Tucker Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m. The Tigers will be making a trip to Tech for the second time in as many games. TSU came back from a 23-9 halftime deficit to slip past the Golden Eagles 27-23 in 2003. This year, TSU is led by first-year head coach James Webster. The injury-plagued Tigers are 1-4 and 0-1 in OVC play. Tech is 2-4 and 1-2, with both of its wins coming at home. The Big Blue leads the OVC in total defense, but lag in the offensive categories. Turnovers have been especially costly for the Tigers as they have committed turnovers in their past two games. Tech has scored 79 points in its previous home games. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 46-16 loss at Tennessee-Martin. TSU holds a 10-8 leads in the series that began with a 33-3 win in 1984. The two schools had met every year since 1988 prior to last season.
