ANTHONY EARNS OVC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State senior All-American running back Charles Anthony has been honored by the Ohio Valley Conference as the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Tigers' John Merritt Classic win over Alabama A&M Saturday night. Anthony rushed for a career-high 202 yards on 26 attempts in the Tigers' season-opening 42-7 triumph. Anthony had a pair of TD's on runs of one and 30 yards. The Orlando, Fla., product rushed for 92 yards on 16 carries in the opening half and had 110 yards on 10 rushes in the final half. Anthony now has 3,520 yards in his career. Anthony received the honor three times during his junior campaign. The award was announced Sunday afternoon by the conference office.
