TIGERS HOLD FINAL SCRIMMAGE BEFORE OPENER
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State held its final major scrimmage on Saturday evening prior to the Tigers' season opener against South Carolina State in the John Merritt Classic next week. ?This gave an opportunity to have live action in situations against what we expect South Carolina State to show us,? said TSU head coach James Reese. ?We saw good things, but there are some areas we want to shore up this week.? Reese said that one of the goals of the preseason camp was to come away with out any serious injuries. ?That was certainly one of our goals in camp was to stay away from injuries,? he said. ?For the most part, heading into game week, we are pretty healthy. Defensive back Kevin Anderson, a transfer from Utah State, has been out with an injury. Anderson is expected to be ready next week. Running back Charles Anthony has held out of Saturday's session. Barry Hayes had several long gainers in his place. The Tigers will practice Sunday to begin game week and have their regular day off on Monday.
