TEMPO PICKS UP FOR FOOTBALL TIGERS
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State held its third practice Wednesday afternoon and the Tigers had their most productive outing of the early preseason drills, according to head coach James Reese. ?The tempo really picked up this afternoon and it was a good session,? said Reese. ?We had a lot of positive work and the young guys are coming along.? Four players were held after being dehydrated during Tuesday practice. Offensive guard Juandale Cooper, defensive back Olten Downs, offensive lineman Avern Alexander, and newcomer running back Phillip Johnson were all held all Wednesday. Johnson just joined the Tigers after transferring from Kent State. The Tigers will return to the field Thursday before going out in full gear for the first time on Friday. The first two-a-day sessions will be Saturday.
