DEFENSE STARTS QUICK IN TIGERS SCRIMMAGE
NASHVILLE --- The defensive unit made a quick start in Tennessee State's final major scrimmage session of the spring drills on Saturday before next Saturday's Blue-White Game. On the first seven plays, the Tiger defense recorded a safety, a pass interception by Andre Davis, and had once chance for a fumble recovery in the scrimmage held in Hale Stadium. "The defense played extremely well and got some early momentum," said TSU head coach James Reese. "The offense began making progress as we moved along and there were certainly some bright spots on that side of the ball as well." The offense's first score came on the fourth possession. Backup quarterback Richard Hartman threw a 54-yard scoring pass to Gerald Morrow. All-America running back Charles Anthony did not participate in the scrimmage session. Maurice Young and Barry Hayes saw most of the action at running back.
