NASHVILLE --- Following a week off for spring break, the Tennessee State Tiger football team will resume spring football drills this week with the bulk of the sessions upcoming. The Tigers had four workouts prior to spring break and will have 11 sessions remaining when the team gets Tuesday's workout underway the Tiger Den. The Tigers jump right back into action as the return to the field will also mark the first day of practice in full pads. "The first week went well, but we are looking forward to getting back to work," said Tiger head coach James Reese. "We still have a lot of work in front of us, both on the offensive and defensive sides." Returning first-team All-Ohio Valley conference defensive end Paul Thomas is not participating in spring drills due to a groin injury. Thomas led the OVC in both quarterback sacks and tackles for loss last season. Also being held out is Shannon Donaldson with an ankle/football injury, and Jeremy Stevens who had a broken leg during last season. Starting linebacker James Dumervil is expected to return this week. Dumervil had off-season knee surgery. The Tigers will have their first full scrimmage of the spring Saturday.
