TIGERS SHOW GOOD SIGNS ON BOTH SIDESOF THE BALL IN FIRST SPRING SCRIMMAGE
Saturday, March 29, 2003
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State head football coach James Reese said he saw "good things on both sides of the football? in the Tigers' scrimmage Saturday. Reese and his coaching staff put the Tigers through a 105-play session at the Tiger Den. Saturday's session mark the team team's first full-fledged scrimmage of spring practice. ?It was very pleasing that we had some guys step and make some plays, both offensively and defensively,? said the Tigers' head coach. ?One of our points of emphasis on defense is pursuing to the football, and it was good to see that today. "Offensively, we had success on the ground and also came up with some plays through the air." Reese cited defensive players Ralph Brown, Mardae Weaver, Keith Rogers, and Charles Vinson. Offensively, running back Charles Anthony had long runs in limited action. Carlos Wright displayed his versatility during the scrimmage, with several good runs at running back and also worked at his natural position of wide receiver. The Tigers will return to work with practices on Monday and Tuesday nights with another scrimmage set for next Saturday. ###
