RICHMOND, Ky. – The Tennessee State men’s basketball team wrapped up the 2013-14 season with a 70-66 loss at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
Patrick Miller fell just shy of a triple-double, finishing with 25 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Kennedy Eubanks and Jay Harris each had fine performances, totaling 16 and 12 points, respectively.
Eastern Kentucky (21-9, 11-5 OVC) opened the game on a 12-3 run, but TSU eventually got within three points of the lead when Jamonte Graham nailed a three-pointer at the 9:40 mark.
The Tigers ended the first half on a 7-2 run, but still trailed 31-25 heading into the locker room.
Tennessee State eventually took the lead with 7:34 to play when Miller hit a jumper to make the score 51-50.
However, an 11-1 Colonel run later in the half doomed any chance the Tigers had at pulling off the upset.
TSU had a shot to tie the game and head into overtime, but Chaed Wellian barely missed a three-pointer and the Tigers fell to 5-25, 4-12 in OVC play.
The Tigers outshot and outrebounded the Colonels, but had two more turnovers and made less triples.
