Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State University senior forward Robert Covington has been named the Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week as announced by the conference office. Covington shared the selection with Isaiah Canaan from Murray State.
The Bellwood, Ill., native recorded a career high 31 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field, 3-for-5 from behind the arc, and was 10-of-11 from the free throw line versus Lemoyne-Owen. Covington also registered game-highs with 11 rebounds and two blocked shots as he led the Tigers to a 79-39 win over the Magicians.
Covington's 31 points were the most by a Tigers since Parker Smith's 31 against Austin Peay on Jan. 17 of 2009.
The honor is the second of the season for Covington, after being named on December 3, and the fifth in his career.
TSU returns to the court on Tuesday, Dec. 18 as they travel to Murfreesboro to take on Middle Tennessee State.
