THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
The Lady Tigers are coming off a season-opening, 52-49, win over Cumberland this past Friday. After opening the season with a victory, TSU is 1-0.

The Lady Tigers, under first year head coach Larry Joe Inman, returned 10 letterwinners from last year's squad and added freshman Brianna Lawrence to the roster.

TSU finished last season with an overall record of 9-20 and a 5-11 conference mark. In an Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll that was released in October, TSU was predicted to finish fifth in the East Division. Jasmin Shuler, an all-OVC preseason selection, led the team in scoring.

LAST TIME OUT
Tennessee State survived a feisty Cumberland University team in the season opener and claimed a, 52-49, win in the Gentry Center. Simone Hopes led TSU with 14 points to go with eight rebounds while Chelsea Hudson also chipped in eight boards. Jasmin Shuler, Tanesha Stenson and Kesi Hess each tallied three steals for TSU to help the team total 16 against the Bulldogs.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
South Alabama officially kicked off its season last Friday on the road at Houston Baptist. The Jaguars posted 52 first-half points and cruised to an, 83-53, victory in the season opener. USA moved to 1-0 to open the 2012-13 campaign.

In South Alabama's victory over Houston Baptist, two players registered double-digits in scoring led by Mary Nixon's 22 points and Mansa El's 15. Nixon also had a team best seven rebounds along with Brianna Wright.

The Jaguars shot a scorching 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the field but only connected on 64.3 percent of their shots from the free-throw line. USA dished out 18 assists, recorded 11 steals and knocked down eight triples in the win. All, except one player, who saw action in the game scored at least two points in the contest.

TSU vs. SOUTH ALABAMA
Tennessee State and South Alabama will meet for only the 3rd time in the program's history. The series is tied at 1-1. TSU claimed the last meeting between the two teams with a, 74-69, victory in the Gentry Center. USA's win over TSU was in 1989.
