The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® series continues by remembering one of the best modern-era basketball players in Tennessee State history.

After playing a season at Arkansas Little-Rock, Carlos Rogers came to TSU in 1992 and played two seasons with the Tigers. During his brief stint, Rogers still finished in the top twenty of all-time scorers and 11th on the top rebounders list.

While Rogers was proficient putting up points and grabbing boards, his strongest asset was his ability to block shots. Rogers became the most prolific blocker in school history in 1994 when he recorded his 186th rejection.

Rogers also had the most blocks in a single season during the 1992-93 campaign when he tallied 93. During that season, he had a school-record eight blocks in a win against Missouri-Kansas City. He then repeated his record-setting performance the following year with 93 more.

In his two seasons at TSU, Rogers was named OVC Player of the Year twice and helped the Tigers claim two conference championships.

At six-foot-eleven and with his numbers, there were a lot of NBA teams thinking about drafting Rogers in 1994. The Seattle Supersonics took the plunge with the 11th pick in the first round.

Rogers never played a game for the Supersonics, but he did play eight seasons for five other teams including the Golden State Warriors Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers.

In his NBA career, Rogers played in 298 games and scored a total of 2,196 points. His NBA career average is 7.4 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Rogers was inducted into the Tennessee State Sports Hall of Fame in Nov. of 2010.

The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® highlights some of the greatest moments in honor of Tennessee State's centennial celebration. A new moment will be released each weekday for a total of 100. These moments were chosen by the TSU 100 Moments committee, which consists of alums from various departments. TSU has so many great moments, not all can be represented in these 100.
