NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee State men's and women's cross country teams continued their season on Saturday during the Vanderbilt Invitational at Percy Warner Park. The field featured 24 teams in each race with the men running an 8K and the women a 5K.

Jamill Jackson was the first of the Flying Tigers to cross the tape in a time of 30:53, just ahead of Jalon McCutcheon at 31:04. Adrian McDaniel (32:14) led a group of three TSU runners across the finish line. The group included Jonathan Owens at 33:30 and Theodore Nicholson 35:26.

Breanna Adams (26:58) edged Oteia Prince (26:59) by a tenth of a second to lead the women's attack. Jasmine Owens (28:54), Charita Harris (29:39) and Diera Taylor (33:23) teamed up with Adams and Prince to finish ahead of Alabama A&M.

Brianna Woodson completed the course in 33:25 and Gabrielle Todd came across in 33:54.

On the women's side, TSU totaled 754 with host Vanderbilt claiming the title with 42 points. The men finished with 785 points while Ohio Valley Conference opponent Eastern Kentucky took the top spot with 32 points.

TSU will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to run in two separate events. On Friday, September 21, the teams will compete in the Bethune-Cookman Beach Invite before taking part in the Asics Embry-Riddle Classic on Saturday.
