Brentwood, Tenn. - The Ohio Valley Conference has launched the OVC Digital Network (www.OVCDigitalNetwork.com), the new and improved home for live streaming of athletic contests involving OVC member institutions.

The Conference is entering its seventh year of web streaming athletic contests, and this investment in improved quality, rebranding and launch of the Digital Network coincides with the OVC's partnership with SIDEARM Sports (SAS), which debuted the new OVCSports.com in July and is the host of the OVC Digital Network.

One of the top new features of the Digital Network is that all events will be offered free for fans, as opposed to the pay model used in the past. The events will also feature improved quality with most events streaming in high definition (HD). Fans will also have easier access to the streams, easily accessing them through links at OVCDigitalNetwork.com without any registration being required.

The streams will be available on any computer, tablet or smart phone without any app or software download thanks to the use of HTML5 technology. The portal also includes live stats and social media integration to give fans even more interaction.

"The establishment of the OVC Digital Network signifies an exciting new chapter in our 65-year Conference history," said OVC Commissioner Beth DeBauche. "The new network, which was developed thanks to the vision and support of the OVC Board of Presidents and Directors of Athletics, will allow the OVC to highlight the accomplishments of our student-athletes and tell the story of our fine member institutions.  I am delighted with this enhanced social media platform that provides the opportunity to share what we have long known: The OVC features a top-notch level of competition in all athletics."

The streaming efforts will concentrate on football and men's and women's basketball in the first year, with all home non-conference and conference contests featuring OVC schools in those sports airing on the platform. The OVC Digital Network will also stream select OVC Championships, various other sports (soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball) and other ancillary programming throughout the season.

Fans can log onto the new website now with the first live events airing the weekend of August 24-26; the first football games will air on Thursday, August 30.

"The OVC Digital Network is an improvement in both quality and access for OVC fans," said Brian Pulley, OVC Assistant Commissioner for External Affairs. "We are excited to showcase all the best the league has to offer through this platform."

In conjunction with the launch of the OVC Digital Network the OVC has entered a partnership with WebStream Productions (WSP) to serve as web streaming consultants for the 2012-13 school year. WSP already provided the OVC and its member institutions an intensive training seminar in July and will continue with year-round support and training as well as providing a comprehensive OVC-branded graphics package for the broadcasts, which include replay wipes and all necessary elements for the webcasts.

Founded in 2006, the Indianapolis-based WebStream Productions is a proven leader in video production, streaming video and content creation. By building strong relationships with its clients, WSP has become a trusted leader in video by providing solutions and not just identifying problems. WSP's 12 full-time staff members produce more than 1000 events annually. For more information about WebStream Productions log onto www.webstreamproductions.com.

Now in its seventh decade of competition, the Ohio Valley Conference has grown significantly from its humble beginnings while increasing the number of athletics opportunities it provides for students. Current league representatives include charter members Eastern Kentucky University, Morehead State University and Murray State University, along with Austin Peay State University, Belmont University, Eastern Illinois University, Jacksonville State University, Southeast Missouri State University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Tennessee State University, Tennessee Technological University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.
