Port St. Lucie, Fla. --- In the final action of the 2012
spring season, the Tennessee State University men's golf team finished in
second place at the 26th annual PGA Minority Collegiate
Tennessee State leaped into first place on day two after
firing a score of 296 in the second round. The Tigers, however, were unable to hold on to the lead behind a 308-mark in round three.
TSU finished with a total score of (+42) 906 (302-296-308).
The Tigers were led by Cameron Scitern, Ryan Pierson and Andrew
Warner as they each finished in a tie for 5th place with scores of 224. Scitern fired identical rounds of (+2) 74 in the first two frames before
closing out the tournament with a 76.
Pierson opened the championship with a three-over 75 before
improving two strokes in the second round with 73. He posted 76 in the final
Andrew Warner carded 76 in the first round before scoring an
even par 72 on day two. In the third and round, he posted a score of 76.
In a field of 11 teams, the Tigers finished just two strokes
behind tournament champion Texas-Pan American with a (+40) 904 (294-309-301). In
a tie for third place, Bethune Cookman and Savannah State rounded out the top
four teams with (+47) 911.
