Murray, Ky. --- The Tennessee State University softball team was blanked Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader on the road against Murray State at Racer Field.
Tennessee State (11-43, 5-24) dropped the opening game, 16-0, before suffering a, 19-0, loss to Murray State (20-24, 11-14 OVC) in the second outing.
TSU finished game one with three hits and two errors while MSU tallied 16 hits and no errors. Murray State pitcher Shelby Kosmecki held the Tigers to only three hits in the game. Meanwhile, the Racers jumped out to a, 9-0, lead after three innings and stretched the advantage to, 16-0, after a seven-spot in the fourth frame.
TSU stranded five runners on base while MSU left four. Kelly Troglin was tagged with the loss while Shelby Kosmecki earned the win for Murray State.
In the second game of the afternoon, TSU struggled against MSU hurler Chelsey Sullivan as Jasmine Brimm and Brittany Webb recorded the only two hits for the Tigers.
Murray State was leading, 3-0, when a seven-run second inning made the score, 10-0. The Racers scored four runs in the third and five more in the fourth to swell the lead to, 19-0.
TSU left two runners on base while MSU stranded five. The Tigers had two hits and one error in the contest while the Racers registered 12 hits.
The loss went to Susie Burke while Chelsey Sullivan picked up the win.
The series will continue on Sunday at 1 p.m. with game three at Racer Field.
