The women's two-mile race is slated for a 4:45 p.m. (CT) start, while the men's 5K will immediately follow.
Five other teams will compete in this weekend's race. Besides host Chattanooga, other in-state foes include Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee State. Fellow OVC opponents Jacksonville State and Tennessee Martin are also registered for the meet.
The Tigerbelles welcome back three veterans from a year ago. Leading the pack is Charita Harris, Tiffany Harris and Gabrielle Todd.
The Harris duo returns after a solid rookie campaign. Tiffany posted an 11th place finish last season at the Morehouse Invitational, running the 5K in 23:21.99. Charita ran the two-mile in 13:40 at the Front Runner Classic in Chattanooga.
Todd, a native of Anchorage, Alas., notched three career records last year. She finished the season on a high note with a run of 23:18.23 in the 5K at the OVC Championships.
New additions to this year's squad include freshmen Leah Carr and Ashontae Jackson. Junior Kya Riley will compete in cross country for the first time this season.
TSU welcomes back three Flying Tigers with collegiate cross country experience.
Among those include Christopher Hobbs. The senior was the top-finisher in all four meets for Tennessee State last season. He clocked a time of 30:42.23 in the men's 8K at the 2010 OVC Championships, narrowly missing his career-best by one point.
Also returning is senior Jonathan Owens. The Fayetteville, Ga., product registered a time of 19:16 at the Front Runner Classic a year ago.
Other experienced student-athletes include Donnie Johnson, who inked a time of 20:14 at the Front Runner Classic.
Tennessee State has four new additions to the cross country program this season: Bryan Herrera, Jamil Jackson, Jahleel Michael and Desmond Trice.
