On Tuesday, Tennessee State University women’s basketball team visited the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Lady Tigers had an opportunity to learn about the foundation and history of women’s basketball. During the visit, TSU viewed a 17-minute video highlighting the journey of women’s basketball throughout the years. Following the short video, the Lady Tigers toured the facility that included numerous displays of Hall of Fame players, teams, and coaches as well as other individuals that have made an impact on women’s basketball.

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame opened in June 1999. It is the only facility of its kind dedicated to all levels of women's basketball. With the 2013 Induction, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame celebrated its 15th Anniversary and added six new members to the Hall, honoring 133 inductees.

“I thought it was an incredible experience for our players,” said head coach Larry Inman. “I thought it was motivational for them to see, first hand, the game that they represent and the exceptional people that brought the game to what it is today. For me as a coach it was like taking a walk down memory lane. For our team, it was a great opportunity for them to see all the great players they’ve seen in action in the past and all the accolades that they have accomplished through the game of basketball.”
