Nashville, Tenn. – The Tigers continues its eight-game home stand to close out the season as they host Tennessee Tech for an Ohio Valley Conference series. Tennessee State and TTU will play a single game at 4:00 pm on Saturday and close out the weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday.

The Tigers (14-31, 5-14) are coming off a 3-1 weekend as they split a twin bill at Murray State, 5-3 and 1-7, before returning home to win a pair of 5-0 contests from Austin Peay. Pitcher Shea Morris led the way as she went 3-0 allowing just three runs on the weekend and striking out 27. Morris was reward for her efforts as she was named Pitcher of the Week by the OVC and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
TSU is currently in 11th place, but are just two games out of the final spot of the OVC tournament. The Tigers hope to use home field advantage over the final six games of the season to earn a spot in postseason play for the first time since 2001. The Golden Eagles are in seventh, three and a half games in front of the Tennessee State.
Kiarra Freeman and Jennifer Givens continue to pace the Tigers offense from the top. One point separates the two in batting average at .370 and .369, respectively. Givens tops the team with a .434 on base percentage, 24 runs and 21 stolen bases. Freeman is right behind Givens with 21 runs and 13 swipes.

Melody Christian leads the way for the Golden Eagles as she has amassed team highs in batting average (.371) runs scored (27) and stolen bases (19). Hannah Eldridge is third on the team at .291 and is second with 20 runs scored. Eldridge is tops for TTU with 22 RBI on the season. Taylor Ketchum leads the way in the circle with a 13-9 record and a 3.31 ERA. In her 127.2 innings of work, Ketchum has struck out 64 batters while only allowing 33 free passes.
