Nashville, Tenn. – Tennessee State head coach Kathy Roulhac has announced the hiring of assistant coach Alisha Ewing for this year’s upcoming season.

Ewing comes to TSU after a successful four-year stint at Notre Dame as the team’s Operations Specialist.

During Ewing’s tenure, the Fighting Irish held a 93-57 record, had four players selected to the Big East’s All-First Team and made two NCAA Tournament appearances.

“I think Alisha will bring a lot of energy and experience, having come from a top-25 program like Notre Dame. She will help our program run smoothly behind the scenes and make my job a whole lot easier,” Roulhac said.

Ewing enjoyed a successful collegiate career as she starred for Bethel College (Ind.) in volleyball and track. She was the NCCAA indoor and outdoor high jump champion in 2003-04 and an NAIA All-American in the event from 2002-05. The dual-sport athlete garnered all-conference honors in volleyball from 2002-04 and in track & field from 2002-05.

“Alisha will be working with the team’s ball control, specifically our first and second hitters. She will help out our outside hitters and defensive players; and she could help pitch-in with our setters,” Roulhac said.

Ewing is no stranger to the volunteer state as she got her first taste of college coaching when she moved on to Trevecca Nazarene University as an assistant coach. While there, she spearheaded efforts for the program's recruiting, promotions, fundraising, game management, strength and conditioning and on-court coaching with an emphasis on defense.

A native of Rochester, Ind., Ewing graduated from Rochester High School after earning four letters in volleyball, basketball and track & field. She earned all-conference honors in each of those three sports during her final three campaigns. Rochester's volleyball and basketball squads earned the sectional championship when Ewing was a senior.

Ewing was inducted into the Rochester High School Hall of Fame in 2011.
