The Tennessee State University women's basketball
team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Morehead State. Tip-off is
slated for 4:15 p.m. in Johnson Arena.
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State is coming off a, 76-67, win over
Jacksonville State on Wednesday. With the win the Lady Tigers improved to 7-10
overall and 3-3 in league play. TSU is 1-2 on the road in league play this
season. The Lady Tigers are tied for fourth in the OVC East Division standings.
Tennessee State's three top leading scorers are Kesi Hess (11.2 ppg), Simone Hopes (9.9 ppg) and Jasmin Shuler (9.5 ppg). Hopes also leads the Lady Tigers in rebounding with 6.7 boards per outing.
As a team, TSU is averaging 59.6 points per contest while shooting 36.1 percent from the field and 28.0 percent from beyond the arc. TSU is currently shooting only 68.4 percent from the free-throw line while committing an average of 17.3 turnovers per game.
TSU averages 36.2 rebounds, 10.4 assists and 9.9 steals per game. The Lady Tigers are under first year head coach Larry Joe Inman.

The Tennessee State University women's basketball
held off Jacksonville State, 76-67, in a victory over the Gamecocks Wednesday
night in the Gentry Center. Although, TSU led for most of the game, JSU
threatened down the stretch. The Lady Tigers, however, were able to keep the
Gamecocks at bay. Four players scored in double-figures led by Simone Hopes
career 24 points. Hopes also had 10 rebounds for a double-double. Kesi Hess
(18), Jasmin Shuler (11), and Chelsea Hudson (11) also posted double-figures.
ABOUT MOREHEAD STATE
Morehead State is coming off a 70-64 win over
Southeast Missouri. Prior to that the Eagles dropped a contest to UT Martin and
defeated Austin Peay.
In the win over SEMO, Morehead State shot 51.0 percent from the field and knocked down six threes in the contest. Terrice Robinson led the Eagles with 23 points while Casey Ryans (13), Almesha Jones (11) and Allie Turner (11) also scored in double-figures.
MSU has an overall record of 7-13 with a 3-3 conference mark. The Eagles are tied for fourth place in the East Division. As a team, the Eagles average 55.2 points per outing behind a .375 shooting percentage. MSU averages 28.7 rebounds and 8.9 steals per game.
Robinson leads the team in scoring with an average of 17.6 ppg while Almesha Jones turns in 11.2 per outing.
TSU vs. MOREHEAD STATE
Tennessee State and Morehead State will meet for
the 48th time with the Eagles holding a, 30-17, series lead. Last season TSU
defeated MSU, 86-80, in the Gentry Center. It was the teams' only meeting of
the season. Morehead State's last win was an, 82-80, decision in Johnson Arena
(1/27/11).
