WBB continues OVC action at Jacksonville State

GAMEDAY
Tennessee State returns to action on Saturday with an OVC contest against Jacksonville State. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

LADY TIGER REVIEW
The Lady Tigers have dropped two straight and are most recently coming off a, 76-62, loss to Tennessee Tech on the road.

TSU had five players to score in double-digits but it wasn't enough as TTU pulled away in the second half.

Kim Haynes led with 14 points while Destiney Gaston added 13. Meredith Stafford scored 12 while Alana Morris and Simone Hopes tallied 11 and 10, respectively.
 
TWO-TIME FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Tayla Foster was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for the second straight week on Monday.

TSU has a 1-6 OVC record on the road this year... JSU is 2-6 in the OVC at home this season...  TSU is tied for 9th place in the league... JSU is sixth  in the league

TSU BY THE NUMBERS
TSU is averaging 61.0 ppg while shooting 37.1 percent from the field and 20.7 percent from 3-point range. TSU is averaging 37.8 rebounds and 20.6 turnovers per game.

ABOUT JACKSONVILLE STATE
Jacksonville State is sitting in sixth place in the OVC standings and has dropped three straight contests, including most recently a, 56-53, loss to Austin Peay at home.

Brittany Wiley is the team's leading scorer with 14.2 points per game while Danielle Vaughn (9.1) and Danielle Beneby (9.0) round out the top three scorers for the Gamecocks.

JSU averages 61.5 ppg while shooting 37.2 percent from the field and 25.8 percent from three=point range. JSU averages 39.0 rebounds and 17.4 turnovers per game. 

SERIES INFORMATION
Tennessee State will match up with Jacksonville State for the 19th time with the Gamecocks leading the series, 11-7. JSU claimed the first meeting of the season by defeating TSU, 77-73, in the Gentry Center.
