NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After picking up two big home wins during the week, the Lady Tigers picked up another win on Tuesday, as Chelsea Hudson took home OVC Player of the Week.
Hudson churned out two dominant performances in the post averaging 14.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in the two TSU victories. In both games the Midland, Texas native recorded double-doubles, bringing her total to seven on the year.
On Saturday, Hudson led the Lady Tigers offensive attack with 15 points and 15 boards as TSU downed Morehead State 87-70.
Hudson continued her tear on Monday scoring 14 points and pulling down 14 rebounds in Tennessee State’s decisive win over Eastern Division leading Eastern Kentucky, 78-63. The game marked the third straight game the junior recorded a double-double.
On the year Hudson is averaging 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds, ranking ninth and fourth respectively in the Ohio Valley.
Tuesday’s award marks the first time a Lady Tiger has received Ohio Valley Conference weekly honor this season.
The Lady Tigers will now take a week off before returning to action Monday at Tennessee Tech, tip-off for the OVC contest is set for 7 p.m. in Cookeville, Tenn.
