The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will return to
action on Monday, Jan. 28 at Eastern Kentucky. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
(cst) in McBrayer Arena. The game will be the Lady Tigers' second in three
days.
Tennessee State's three top leading scorers are Kesi Hess (11.7 ppg), Simone Hopes (10.3 ppg) and Jasmin Shuler (9.2 ppg). Hopes also leads the Lady Tigers in rebounding with 6.8 boards per outing.
As a team, TSU is averaging 59.6 points per contest while shooting 36.1 percent from the field and 28.0 percent from beyond the arc. TSU is currently shooting only 68.4 percent from the free-throw line while committing an average of 17.3 turnovers per game.
TSU averages 36.2 rebounds, 10.4 assists and 9.9 steals per game. The Lady Tigers are under first year head coach Larry Joe Inman.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tennessee State University women's basketball used a strong
second-half effort to defeat Morehead State, 68-56, on the road Saturday night.
After playing to a 30-30 deadlock, TSU used a 15-2 run to open up the lead in
the second half. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Kesi Hess with 21
points while Simone Hopes added 18. Avery Jones chipped in 14 points while
Rachel Allen dished out six assists.
In the win over Belmont, Alex Jones recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Raechele Gray posted 10. Jade Barber finished the game with 10 rebounds.
As a team, EKU averages 60.4 points per game behind a .376 shooting percentage. The Colonels shoot 31.4 percent from the three-point line and 69.9 percent from the charity stripe.
Jade Barber leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 12.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Brittany Coles also averages double-digits with 10.3 ppg.
