Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigers ended their final road stretch with a, 61-59, loss to Tennessee Tech inside the Eblen Center on Monday night.

The match-up encountered 13 lead changes with the slugfest coming down to the final second. With the score, 30-29, in favor of TSU at the break, both teams drew even five times in the second half.

The Tigers were doomed by a turnover with 1.8 seconds remaining with a chance to win or tie. The miscue came after TTU nailed a mid-range jumper on the previous possession with the score even at 59 leading to the final score.

TSU (11-15, 8-8 OVC) shot 41 percent from the floor, 44 percent from long range, and 92 percent from the line.

Jacquan Nobles led TSU with a season high, 17 points, scorching 6-of-7 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from three-point range. Nobles missed his first three-point basket midway through the second half and posted 12 points in the first.

Wil Peters added 12 points hitting 4-of-7 from the floor. Patrick Miller posted a team high with seven rebounds and four assists.

Kevin Murphy led TTU (15-11, 11-6 OVC) with game highs, 24 points and eight boards, shooting 8-of-16 from the field. Jud Dillard shot 6-of-14 adding 13 points and five rebounds.

However, it was Zac Swansey who hit the clutch shot to seal the victory for the Golden Eagles. He dished out a game best, five assists, to go with seven points.

TTU picked up their second straight victory winning six of their last nine. The Golden Eagles shot 45 percent overall, scored 19 points off TSU turnovers, while winning the rebound battle, 34-26.

Up next, TSU will break away from conference play to host Delaware State in the ESPN BracketBusters. The match-up is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19, with a 3 p.m. tip-off.
