Nashville, Tenn. - With the conclusion of the OVC Tournament on Saturday night, the conference announced that Tennessee State senior forward Kellen Thornton has been selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Thornton joins Belmonts's Kerron Johnson and Ian Clark, as well as Murray State's Isaiah Canaan and Stacy Wilson on the five-man squad.
In TSU's two tournament games, Thornton averaged double digits in points (18.5) and rebounds (10.0), leading the Tigers in both categories.
Against Tennessee State's first opponent, Morehead State, Thornton scored 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting and secured eight boards.
Thornton then made 10-of-18 shots for a team-high 22 points against Belmont, and also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
TSU has now had a player named to the OVC's All-Tournament team in consecutive seasons, as Robert Covington accomplished the feat last year. The last time Big Blue had a representative on the squad in back-to-back years was when Monty Wilson and Carlos Rogers were nominated in 1993 and Rogers and Tim Horton made the cut in 1994.
