The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® series continues by recognizing one of the most prolific basketball players in Tennessee State history.

In 2009, women's basketball player Kendra Appling became the eleventh member of the 1,000 point club. She finished her TSU career with 1,593 points which is fourth all-time in school history.

Appling is one of only three Lady Tigers to be named on the OVC First Team two times joining Connie Swift and Carolyn Aldridge, who accomplished the feat three times.

She attempted more shots than any other Lady Tiger in history, but she made a lot of them, finishing with a life-time 33 percent three-point average.

In perhaps her most memorable game, Appling scored 50 points in a 91-77 victory over Jacksonville State during the 2007-08 season. She became only the second Lady Tiger to ever score 50 points in a game, and just missed tying Aldridge's all-time record of 51.

She had four games in which she scored over 30 points.

Appling excelled as a scorer, but she was also an avid defender. She is second all-time in steals with 255 and always guarded the other team's best player. Her ball-hawking skills earned her OVC Defensive Player of the Year honors during her senior year.

She was also a team-player, racking up 331 assists during her career. TSU also improved every year with Appling as the go-to scoring threat. The Lady Tigers went 0-27 during her freshman season, but then won seven, 13 and 18 games the next consecutive years.

The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® highlights some of the greatest moments in honor of Tennessee State's centennial celebration. A new moment will be released each weekday for a total of 100. These moments were chosen by the TSU 100 Moments committee, which consists of alums from various departments. TSU has so many great moments, not all can be represented in these 100.
