ATLANTA, Ga. – The Tennessee State men’s golf team finished third at the National Black College Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., tournament.  The Tigers shot a 6-over, 294 on the final day on the Par-72, 6,539 yard Browns Mill Golf Course.

TSU (292-294=586) shot a 6-over as a team on Sunday to finish 10-strokes behind Florida A&M (291-285=576) who claimed the title shooting Even-par over the two day event. Alabama State (291-287=578) finished second two shots behind FAMU for a second place finish.

Andrew Warner led the Tiger scoring with a 5-under, 67 and was followed by James Stepp with a 2-over, 74, Codie Welborn’s 4-over, 76 and a 5-over, 77 by Blake Burgett. Shane Sampair fired a non-scoring 7-over, 79.

Warner (72-67=139) continued his success from day one with 12 fairways and 15 greens during the second round. For the second straight day, Warner birdied the par-3, 2nd. On Sunday, the senior needed a 25-footer to move to 1-under on the day. Warner used a pair of 15-foot putts on the par-5, 8th, and the par-4, 11th, to card the season best 5-under.

Welborn (74-76=150) highlighted the day with a chip-in eagle, the first of the year for the Tigers, on the par-5, 18th. Welborn hit 10 greens and 12 fairways on the day.

Burgett (74-77=151) finished his first outing of the season 7-over for the tournament. On Sunday, the Nashville native stuck wedge shots to within five feet on both the 7th and the 9th to set up makeable birdie putts. Burgett found 11 greens and hit seven fairways on Sunday.

The Tigers will return to action at the Skyhawk Fall Classic on Monday, Oct. 7. The 54-hole event will be played in Buchanan, Tenn.
