Nashville, Tenn. – Senior Jennifer Givens has been named to the College Sports Madness - Ohio Valley Conference All-Conference 2nd Team. The lefty centerfielder was honored for her exceptional play in her final season with the Tigers.
Givens finished the season with 56 hits in 146 at bats for a .384 battings average. She led the Tigers with 27 runs scored and 25 stolen bases. Givens recorded two doubles, two triples, 10 RBI and 12 walks for a .441 on base percentage. The Kingston native was fifth in the OVC this season in hitting and swiped the third most bases. Her 16 steals inside of conference play was the most by any player in the OVC.
In just two seasons, the junior college transfer left her mark all over the TSU record books. The .384 average is the fourth highest for a single season in school history, while her 56 hits is third highest in a season and the 27 runs is tied for fourth. Givens set the record for stolen bases with 34 during the 2012 campaign and now holds the number four spot as well for her thefts this season. The .441 OBP is now the third best in Tiger history for a season.
During her career, Givens was hit by a pitch 10 times (tied for 4th), compiled a.326 average (4th), a .381 OBP (5th) and stole the second most bases, 59.
Givens put together a pair of eight games hit streaks, including over the final eight games of her career. Her final streak was highlighted by a four-hit performance versus Tennessee Tech during the first game on April 28. The four hits ties the TSU single game high.
