NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Less than three weeks away from their trip to Fayetteville, Ark., the Tennessee State University volleyball team held their first full day of practice on Monday at Kean Hall to prepare for the upcoming season.
“We have good chemistry and communication,” head coach Kathy Roulhac said. “The girls have been committed to their workouts over the summer and it shows. I feel like we are already ahead of schedule.”
During the weekend the coaches brought in a drill sergeant for the team and held “combat training.” The things they worked on during combat training help set the bar for intensity. They also identified specific areas that they want to improve on and made them their “missions.”
“The combat training was all mission driven,” coach Roulhac said. “They put the missions that they accomplished over the weekend up on the wall in the gym to signify their dedication to each goal. We want to make sure that they are mission driven in 2014.”
Coach Roulhac has been impressed with what she’s seen so far.
“We’ve got so many players that are good this year. I’m excited to see how much each player progresses daily and look forward to seeing them play come August 29th.”
