Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team returns to the road to face UT Martin in OVC action Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Skyhawk Arena.
Tennessee State (16-9, 11-6 OVC) is coming off a, 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-26, 25-20), victory over Austin Peay in the final home match of the season.
Shaquita Williams paced TSU with 16 kills while Terakka Walker recorded a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs. Danielle Howell also chipped in 10 kills for TSU. Erika Moss registered 52 set assists while Britani Hathorn tallied 18 digs. Williams also notched seven blocks in the win.
As a team, Tennessee State averages 12.97 kills per set with a .179 hitting percentage. TSU is currently in second place in the league standings.
Williams continues to be the offensive leader for the Tigers as she averages 3.74 kills per contest behind a .315 hitting percentage. Terakka Walker averages 2.96 kills per set while Danielle Howell posts 2.28 k/s. Britani Hathorn leads the team with 4.16 digs per frame while Williams has a team-best 65 total blocks on the season.
UT Martin (15-12, 10-7 OVC) is most recently coming off a 3-2 loss to Austin Peay at home. Ashley Doherty leads a balanced offensive attack for UTM averaging 2.91 kills per set while Kasey Elswick registers a team-best 6.72 digs per outing. As a team, the Skyhawks average 13.00 kills per set while hitting .189. UTM is in a two-way tie for third place in the league standings.
