Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team will play its final home game of the season on Friday, Nov. 4 against Austin Peay. Before the match begins TSU will recognize its two seniors Terakka Walker and Shaquita Williams as they play their last game as a Tiger in Kean Hall.
Tennessee State is coming off a hard-fought win over Lipscomb on Tuesday night. The Tigers defeated the Bisons, 3-2, in non-conference action to improve to 15-9 on the season. TSU has a 10-6 conference record and is currently tied for second place in the league standings.
Shaquita Williams remains the offensive leader for the Tigers as she turns in 3.73 kills per set behind a .310 hitting percentage. Britani Hathorn paces the TSU defense with 4.15 digs per outing while Williams and Danielle Howell lead the team in total blocks with 58 and 56, respectively.
TSU will face an Austin Peay (9-18, 7-9 OVC) team that is fighting for a spot in the OVC tournament. The Lady Govs are just out of tournament contention in a tie for seventh place. APSU has won two consecutive matches with the most recent victory being a, 3-1, win over Jacksonville State.
Nikki Doyle leads APSU with 3.51 kills per set while Paige Economos averages 4.97 digs per frame.
In the first meeting of the season, Tennessee State fell to Austin Peay in three straight sets (18-25, 16-25, 19-25) on the road. TSU tallied 39 kills in the contest but only managed a .102 hitting percentage while Austin Peay had 35 kills behind a .250 percentage.
TSU vs. APSU match time is slated for 7 p.m. in Kean Hall.
