Clarksville --- The Tennessee State University volleyball team dropped three sets to second place Austin Peay Friday night in the Dunn Center.

After trading points in the opening set, a kill by Vicmari Prospero brought the score to 18-18. Austin Peay scored the next two points before Shaquita Williams brought TSU back to within one, 21-19. The Lady Govs then outscored the Tigers, 4-2, to capture the win.

Three straight errors led to TSU falling behind 15-9 in the second set. The Tigers used a timeout in an attempt to slow the Lady Govs down but APSU stretched its advantage to 17-10.  APSU closed out the frame with an 8-3 run on the way to the win.

APSU carried the momentum into the third set, jumping out to a 10-4 lead. A kill by Kinsley Williams sparked a run that brought TSU to within two, 12-10 but the Lady Govs answered with a spurt that put them back on top, 18-11. APSU held on to win, 25-17.

Tennessee State tallied 32 kills and hit .178 while Austin Peay registered 46 kills and a .400 hitting percentage.
