Nashville --- Junior Shaquita Williams was named the Ohio Valley Conference offensive player of the week on Monday, Nov.1.
Williams, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, received the award for her exceptional performance last week. She helped the Tigers go 3-0 and finished the week with 64 kills, 15 blocks and 74.5 points.
The, 6-0 middle blocker/ outside hitter, posted double-digit kills in each match, tallying a team-best 16 kills in a 3-1 win over Eastern Kentucky. She followed that up with a career-high 28 kills on a .426 hitting percentage vs. Tennessee Tech.
Against Jacksonville State, Williams turned in a match-high 20 kills and six blocks. After only the first set against JSU, she had eight kills (no errors) on a .727 hitting percentage.
Last week's three wins helped TSU get back in the race for
tournament contention.This is Williams' first OVC player of the week honor.
The Tigers will resume OVC action this Friday on the road at Southeast Missouri. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. at Houck Fieldhouse.
