NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State University head volleyball coach Kathy Roulhac announced the 2014 Regular Season schedule.
The Tigers will be tested early and often as they spend almost the entirety of their non-conference slate on the road. The only home game until the end of September will come against East Tennessee State on Sep. 16. TSU will then travel to four tournaments and one game in Huntsville, Ala.
The season starts with the Arkansas Invitational (Aug. 29-30) in Fayetteville where TSU will take on the host Razorbacks, followed by Michigan, and ending with Stephen F. Austin. Michigan finished 2013 ranked No. 33 in the country.
The Tigers will go to Louisville, Ky. the following weekend for the Active Ankle Challenge (Sep. 5-6). Along with Louisville, who finished last season ranked No. 40 in the country, TSU will square off with Appalachian State and Cincinnati.
On Sep. 9th, TSU will head south to Huntsville for a showdown with Alabama A&M. After the matchup of with the Bulldogs, the Tigers will travel to the Clemson Classic (Sep. 12-13). On the docket there will be Wofford, William & Mary, and the host Tigers.
TSU’s first game in Kean Hall will take place on Tuesday, Sep. 16 as they play host to East Tennessee State. Their final non-conference tournament will be in the Cincinnati, Ohio at the UC Invitational Sep. 19th and 20th. They’ll begin the tournament with Central Michigan, followed by Charleston Southern, and finish up with Cincinnati, for the second time in three weeks, before starting their Ohio Valley Conference schedule.
Eight of TSU’s 16 conference games will be played in Kean Hall. Morehead State (Sep. 26), Eastern Kentucky (Sep. 27), and Belmont (Sep. 30) will fill out the month of September. The Tigers will get a brief respite from conference play when they host SWAC opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Oct. 7).
The conference home schedule concludes with Austin Peay (Oct. 17), Murray State (Oct. 18), Tennessee Tech (Nov. 7), Jacksonville State (Nov. 8), and Eastern Illinois (Nov. 15).
