NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tigerbelles and Tigers returned to Vaughn’s Gap for their second meet in three weeks as part of the Commodore Invitational on Saturday morning. For the second consecutive week the Tigerbelles put a dent into their season best times as six of the seven members runners improved their 5K times. Freshman LaToya Harze missed her season best by 16 seconds, but better her time week one time on the same course by 4:29.
Oteia Prince posted a TSU best time of 20:33.63 and was followed by Breanna Adams (22:35.44), Michelle Bradley (22:36.62), Diera Taylor (23:14.42) and Jasmine Owens (23:24.89). Ashontae Jackson (24:55.56) and Harze (27:58.87) ran non-scoring times, while India Smith withdrew half way through the race due to a day-to-day injury.
The Tigers competed in an 8K for the first time this season and was led by Quamel Prince in a time of 28:44.27. Adrian McDaniels was the second to cross the line at 29:58.96 and was joined in the scoring by Jahleel Michael (33:24.32), Theodore Nicholson (34:40.51) and Jason Griffin (35:53.65). Jakeenan Guthrie (36:00.44), Jalon McCutcheon (36:57.09) and Emmanual Thornton (38:25.10) rounded out the Tigers lineup.
The Tigerbelles will host Alabama A&M for a dual meet on the TSU campus on Friday, Sept. 20. The two teams are scheduled for a 4:30pm start.
