Tailgating Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  I have been tailgating for years, do I need to move to the Tiger Town Tailgate Zone in order
to tailgate?

A:  You will still be able to tailgate in other parking lots.  Fans are encouraged to participate in the Tiger Town Tailgate Party because it will give you more space to tailgate and will enhance the game day atmosphere. If you choose to tailgate in another lot, you should purchase enough parking passes to cover the amount of space your tailgate will take up.   A 10' X 10' tent will be considered 3 parking spaces ($30.00).

The narrow grassy areas in all other lots are used for car parking and counted as parking spaces.  If you take up more than one space, you will should purchase parking passes for the additional space(s) you occupy.

Q: How much space will I have to tailgate in Tiger Town?

A: Each space in Tiger Town is 4 parking spaces or about a 20' X 20' space to tailgate. If you will be having a large tailgate, you may purchase more than 1 space at a time.

Q:  Where is the Tiger Town Tailgate Zone going to be located?

A:  Tiger Town will be centrally located in the middle of the parking lot in Lot A-B,  directly behind parking lot C.  Click here to view a map of the parking lots.

Q:  How do I reserve tailgate space in Tiger Town?

A:  Please call the TSU Athletic Ticket office at (615) 963-5841 to reserve your space.

Q:  What time will the tailgate zone open and close?

A:  The tailgate zone will open at 9AM and will close at 12:00 midnight.  The other lots open at 2:PM.  Stay tuned, Tiger Town may open on Friday night for some games.
 
Q:  Can RV's and buses park and tailgate in Tiger Town?

A:  YES. RV and busses will be allowed in Tiger Town.  A section of the tailgate area will be designated for RV and bus parking only. RV tailgating will be $50.00 per game and bus parking will be $75.00 per game and will include space to tailgate around your vehicle.

Q: If I plan on bringing a bus or RV, what time should I arrive?

A: RV's and busses should arrive between 9am and 12 noon so the large vehicles can be situated early in the afternoon, but stay tuned because we may be opening on Friday Night.

Q:  Will I receive a special pass to gain entrance into Tiger Town?

A:  Yes.  You will receive a tailgate pass, which will allow you set up your tailgate in Tiger Town.  You will also require special parking permits for your vehicles to gain entrance into Tiger Town.

Q:  Why Should I pay to tailgate in Tiger Town?

A: Tiger Town will give tailgaters more space to setup and enable them to have larger tailgate parties without the worries of car traffic and space.  Money generated from the tailgate area will pay for the increasing costs in parking and traffic control.


Q:  Do other schools charge for tailgating?

A:  Yes.  According to Alabama A&M Athletic officials, tailgating packages are $250.00 for the season.  Other schools such as North Carolina A&T and Southern also have confirmed they do charge for tailgating.

Q:  Why should I move my tailgate party to Tiger Town this year?

A:  There are several reasons Tiger Town was created and your participation is critical.  One is it that will enhance the game-day atmosphere and give fans a central place to gather before and after the game. Secondly, many of our supporters purchase season parking passes and are unable to find parking spaces in they areas the have paid for. Tiger Town will open earlier than other parking lots so tailgaters can come earlier and begin to setup.  Finally, it will reduce the costs of cleanup because tailgating will be in one central location.

Q:  I don't have a tent, how can I get one?

A  We are offering 2 tent packages for fans that would like to add a tent to their tailgate space.  The tents, chairs, and tables will be setup for you and all you have to do is unload your tailgate gear. 

10' X 10' tent, 1 table, 8 chairs and a 15' X 15' tailgate space for $225.00 per game.

20' X 10' tent, 2 tables, 8 chairs, and a 30' X 30' tailgate space for $350.00 per game.
