Old Hickory, Tenn. --- The Tiger men's golf team finished in eighth place at the fifth annual Big Blue Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee State University at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.
As a team, TSU shot and overall score of (+16) 880 behind rounds of 291, 297 and 292.
Junior Cameron Scitern had an impressive performance in his return to the green from a wrist injury. Scitern led TSU and captured top 10 finish to pace the Tiger scorers. He carded even par scores of 72 in the first two rounds before firing a 2-under-par 70 in the final frame. His final score of (-2) 214 was good for a 10th place tie.
Sophomore Ryan Pierson (T32) opened up the tournament by shooting a (+1) 73 before scoring 75 in round two. He got back on track in the third round with an even par 72 for a final score of 220.
Sophomore Andrew Warner finished in a tie for 43rd after carding rounds of 71-79-75 (225). Freshmen James Stepp (48th) and Dallas Hill (T49th) rounded out the scorers for the Tigers. Stepp registered a 226 (76-73-77) while Hill posted a 227 (75-77-75).
Murray State claimed the title for the third consecutive year behind an overall score of (-21) 843 (281-282-280). Tennessee Tech and Southern Illinois tied for second place with a two-under 862 while UT Martin captured fourth with a score of (+1) 865.
After a short break, Tennessee State returns to action at the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Championship. The tournament, hosted by Tennessee State University will take place, Thursday, April 26 through Saturday, April 28 at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
