The Tennessee State University men's golf team will return to action on Monday-Tuesday, April 9-10, when the Tigers travel to Glencoe, Ala., to compete in the Grub Mart Golf Intercollegiate hosted by Jacksonville State University.
The tournament will be held at the Silver Lakes Golf Course and features nine schools, including six from the Ohio Valley Conference. The teams will play to a par-72, 7,040-yard course with rounds one and two scheduled for Monday. The final round action will conclude on Tuesday.
Participating teams include: Jacksonville State, Our Lady of the Lake, George Washington, Lipscomb, Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin.
The Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate began as the JSU-Silver Lakes Classic in 1994. It was originally intended as a Division II qualifier for the NCAA Tournament. Fourteen teams competed in the 1994 event, shortened to 36 holes due to violent weather.
In the Tigers' last outing, TSU picked up an 11th place finish at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate. Ryan Pierson led the team with a 2-under-par 211 and tied for seventh place. He carded rounds of 70, 71, and 70, respectively.
