Paducah, Ky. --- The Tennessee State University men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Murray State Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Miller Memorial Golf Course.
As a team, Tennessee State trailed nine teams in the first round after shooting a 302 in the opening frame. The Tigers, however, answered with a score of 288 in round two before carding its best score of the tournament (286) in the final round to finish in sixth.
Cameron Scitern paced the Tigers with an eighth place finish behind a score of 215. He improved each round as he shot 73 in the first round, 72 in the second and 70 in the third.
Andrew Warner carded rounds of 73-77-68 (218) to finish in a tie for 15th place while Dallas Hill (T25) registered a 221 (79-69-73). James Stepp rounded out the scorers for TSU with scores of 77-78-75 (230).
Host Murray State won the 13-team tournament with an even par 852 while Lipscomb placed second with a five-over 857. Belmont rounded out the top three with (+14) 866.
The Tigers return to action, Oct. 16-18, at the F&M Bank Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay.
