Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University men's golf team will host the 4th annual TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate from April 4-5 held at the King's Creek Golf Course in Spring Hill, Tenn.
The course at King's Creek Golf Club is an 18-hole Arnold Palmer design with five sets of tees that can stretch the course from 5,078 yards to 6,807 yards. Par is 70, with the front and back nines each at par 35. Yet it still features four par fives with each nine consisting of a balance of three par 3s, four par 4s, and two par 5s.
The men are set to take on a challenging 14-team field including squads from Ohio Valley Conference members UT Martin, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, and last year's tourney winner, Murray State (14-over 856).
Other teams slated to compete are Savannah State, John A Logan CC, Valparaiso University, Alabama State, Lipscomb University, Cumberland University, Trevecca University, Lincoln Memorial, and Winston-Salem State.
Practice rounds are scheduled for Sunday, April 3 with the first round set to begin at 8 a.m. on Monday with a shotgun start.
In the intercollegiate last season, host TSU finished in second recording an overall stroke count of 862 . Ryan Smith (73-69-65) and Chris Siebel (67-73-71) led the Tigers with Smith closing out in second overall. Seibel registered a top ten finish with a three-way tie for ninth.
In their last time out, the men captured second place at the Florida A&M Spring Golf Invitational (3/18) held at the Southwood Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla. The Tigers shot 6-over-par from total rounds of 289 and 293 for an overall score of 582.
Richard Gill and Andrew Warner were named Co-Male Golfers of the Week after finishing in a tie for third place, out of a field of 38 players, at the invitational. Each golfer carded rounds of 72-71 to finish at 143 (-1), which was five strokes off the lead.
Next, TSU will return to play when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to compete in the James Madison Invitational hosted by James Madison. The tournament is scheduled to start April 10.
