Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University men's golf team will begin the spring season this Sunday, February 20, at the AT&T/Frito Lay Invitational hosted by Jackson State. The tournament will be held at Dancing Rabbit Golf Course in Choctaw, Miss.
The Dancing Rabbit, a par 72, 36-hole course, will host 17 teams. Sharing the field with Tennessee State will include: Belmont, Bethune-Cookman, Evansville, Florida A&M, Lambuth, Lipscomb, McNeese State, Mercer, Nicholls State, Savannah State, Southern Illinois, Talladega, Maryland Eastern Shores, Winston Salem State, and the other only Ohio Valley Conference member, Tennessee Martin.
After a stellar showing in the fall season the Tennessee State University men's golf team was picked to finish the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference race in seventh place in a vote of league head coaches.
Last fall, Tennessee State picked up a first-place finish at the National Black College Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga. The Tigers also notched a third-place finish at the Alabama State Classic and a fourth-place spot in the SIU-Edwardsville Fall Classic.
First round action for the AT&T/Frito Lay Invitational is set to kick off on Sunday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. TSU will return to action March 13-15 for the Grover Page Classic hosted by Tennessee Martin in Jackson, Tenn.
