Edwardsville, Ill. --- The Tennessee State University men's golf team closed out its fall schedule with a 4th place finish at the SIUE Doubletree Intercollegiate where the Tigers shot a three-round overall score of 925 (301-315-309), two strokes behind SIU Edwardsville.
The tournament, played at the par-72, 6,628-yard Sunset Hill Country, hosted an 8-team field.
TSU was led by a tied 4th place finish from freshman Andrew Warner after carding a 8-over-par 224 (75-77-72) for the tournament. Warner finishes the season with a 4-over-par 75.6 per stroke average leading for the men.
Senior Ryan Smith recorded a score of 234 (73-77-84) while senior Richard Gill tied 26th with a score of 237 (78-84-75). Smith and Gill both finish the season with a 4-over-par 75.9 per stroke average.
Rounding out the scores for the men were Ryan Pierson and Codie Welborn. Pierson tied in 31st place with an overall score of 239 (75-81-83 closing the season with a 5-over-par 77.0 per stroke average. Welborn who tied in 34th place (83-80-79--242) ends the season with a 7-over-par 78.7 per stroke average.
The tournament winner, Missouri State, finished with a 897 total while Southern Illinois placed second (913).
This season, the Tigers finished in the top five in the team standings in three of four tournaments. TSU captured a team title winning the National Black College Invitational, a 3rd place finish at the Alabama State Fall Classic, and now a 4th place finish in the SIUE DoubleTree Intercollegiate.
