The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® series continues by remembering a first in Tennessee State softball history.

The accomplishment of a no-hitter avoided the programs pitching staff for the first 14 seasons of existence, but all would change during the 2007 season. The first in Tiger history came 17 games into the season as junior Amanda Vaught completed the task. TSU would not have to wait another 602 games for the feat to be duplicated, as sophomore Stephanie Kemme tossed a no-no just four days later, a span of five games.

On March 5th, Vaught dominated La Salle at the Rebel Spring games in Kissimmee, Fla., during a 3-0 Tiger win. The Murfreesboro native hit a batter in the first inning and surrendered walks in the second and sixth innings for the only base runners of the game. Vaught was never threatened from the start as she struck out the side in the first inning and registered two strike outs an inning over the next four. She would fan the final six batters of the game for a total of 17 punch-outs.

Kemme toed the rubber against Holy Cross in Kissimmee on March 9th for her first start of the season. After allowing the first batter of the game to reach on a base-on-balls the Tiger defense flashed the leather and turned a double play to get out of the inning. Kemme issued a walk in the second, as well as another in the third, before retiring the final 13 batters of the game. TSU would score three in the first inning and another in the fifth to complete the 4-0 victory.

On February 20, 2009, Caitlin Eaton fired the third no-hitter in the 19-year history of Tiger softball and the first perfect game. The sophomore struck out at least one batter in every inning, seven in all, during a five inning 8-0 win over IUPUI. Eaton helped herself out at the plate by driving a ball over the centerfield fence as TSU exploded for six runs in the fifth.

The 100 Moments of TSU Athletics presented by Taco Bell® highlights some of the greatest moments in honor of Tennessee State's centennial celebration. A new moment will be released each weekday for a total of 100. These moments were chosen by the TSU 100 Moments committee, which consists of alums from various departments. TSU has so many great moments, not all can be represented in these 100.
