Jonesboro, Ark. --- The Tennessee State University men's golf team finished in a tie for 11th place at the 16th annual Red Wolf Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon.
The tournament, hosted by Arkansas State, saw Tennessee State register an overall team score of (+33) 885. The Tigers carded their best round of the tournament in the opening frame with a 290 before posting 299 and 296 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Ryan Pierson (T7) led TSU and finished in the top 10 behind a score of (-2) 211. Pierson shot 70 in the opening round before firing a 71 in round two. He finished the tournament strong by carding a 70 in the final frame.
James Stepp improved each round as he finished in a tie for 29th with scores of 75, 73 and 71. Andrew Warner (T61) scored 224 (72-79-73) while Dallas Hill (T91) posted a score of 231 (73-76-82). Codie Welborn (119) rounded out the scorers for TSU with a 247 (79-83-85).
Arkansas-Little Rock shot a 4-under-par 848 to claim the title while OVC member Austin Peay placed second with a (+5) 857. Vanderbilt rounded out the top three with a (+12) 864.
Tennessee State returns to action at the Grub Mart Intercollegiate hosted by Jacksonville State on Monday, April 9.
