NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Head coach Jeff Dabney has announced the fall schedule for the Tennessee State softball program. The challenging schedule will feature a doubleheader with the 2012 National Champion, Alabama Crimson Tide, and a game against final poll, No. 17 ranked Louisville.
The 2012 fall season will kick-off with the Alumni Game on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Tiger Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and all former Tiger players are encouraged to participate in the game and festivities. TSU will take to the road on Saturday, Oct. 6 to compete in the Louisville Fall Tournament. The Tigers will face the host Cardinals at 1:30 p.m. before taking on Bellarmine at 5:30 p.m. The Knights are coming off their first trip to the NCAA-II National Tournament.
The Big Blue returns home to host cross town rival Lipscomb University in a midweek doubleheader. The first game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Tiger Field.
TSU closes out the fall with back-to-back weekend trips. First, the Tigers will travel to Bowling Green, Ky., to participate in the WKU Fall Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 20. An 11:00 a.m. start time is on tap with host Western Kentucky before battling Columbus State at 1:00 p.m. Coach Dabney and his youthful squad will close out the fall with a trip to Tuscaloosa for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader with the defending national champions. The trip, on Sunday, Oct. 28, will mark the second consecutive fall trip to face the Crimson Tide.
