Des Moines, Iowa – Tennessee State freshman Clairwin Dameus finished in fifth place out of 15 competitors in the long jump at the 2013 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
After fouling on her first try, Dameus had a leap of 5.63 meters on her third attempt. It proved to be her best mark of her six chances.
Alexis Faulkner of Central Florida placed first with a hop of 5.96 meters on her second attempt.
Dameus’s performance in the event was shorter than her career mark of 6.14 meters, so she will now await an invitation for the Pan Am Junior Games in Medellin, Columbia.
