Flying Tigers tack on more PRs to end OVC Championship

Murray, Ky. - With the momentum built from day one from several PRs, the Tennessee State University Flying Tigers finished fourth in the team standings to conclude the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship.

TSU slipped from third place after day one ending the competition with 74 points. Despite the final standings and early rain, several student-athletes picked up personal bests.

Michael Rideout finished with the team's best performance of the final day tacking on second-place in the 400m. He posted a career fastest with a time of 47.51s. He would later finish fifth in the 200m posting a time of 22.18s.

Rideout ended competition help carrying the 4x400m relay team with Lequinn Davis, Michael Johnson, and Phillip Myton to a second-place time of 3:18.85.

After winning the high jump yesterday, Arthur Combest finished third in the 110m hurdles and fifth in the 400m hurdles. He clocked a personal best in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.62s and closed out the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.71s.

In the 100m, TSU scored fourth through sixth behind Lequinn Davis (10.95s), Julian Mallory (11.08s) and Micah Poole (11.09s). Poole entered the final heat with the fastest time and a personal best of 10.85s.

The Davis, Mallory, and M. Poole linked up with Johnnie Poole to record third in the 4x100m relay with a time of 41.73s.

TSU also picked up points behind Chris Hobbs and Royce Dates. Hobbs rounded out the 800m scoring in sixth with a time of 2:01.13 after qualifying for the finals with a career best of 1:58.23. Dates tacked on another personal vault during the OVC Championship finishing the triple jump with a mark of 44' 3.25" (13.49m) for fourth.

Eastern Illinois picked up their third consecutive outdoor crown scoring 266 points with Southeast Missouri State following with 180. Eastern Kentucky ended the meet in third (92) with Morehead State in fifth (32) to complete the five-team affair.
